My friend and co-worker for the past few years is Cheryl Brown. She is a fabulous quilter and she is getting a book published that will come out in December.  We were so excited to see her quilt on the cover of the Martingale catalog and also hanging front and center in the Martingale booth at Market. Cheryl’s blog is www.elephantpatch.blogspot.com.

Jackie has a company www.animas.com and she is a very gifted quilter and designer.  If there is an easier way to do something, she will figure it out. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Jackie for a few years now and she is a neat lady.

Jane Sassaman

Jane Sassaman

I took a class from Jane at the last Utah Quilt Fest in September. She is an art quilter and she designs patterns and has a couple of fabric lines. I was so inspired by her class because it opened up a whole new world to me of art quilting where I can play with thread and all of those 180 decorative stitches on my machine. www.janesassaman.com.

We ran into old friend, Cheryl Styler (right) who used to own Threads of Time in Centerville, Utah. Cheryl was with her friend from St. George and I’m embarassed to say I can’t remember her name (I’m so sorry!)

Rachel Brenchley is my neighbor and she is a very gifted scrapbook paper designer.  Her company is called Basic Grey and now some of her designs are being printed on Moda fabric. Being in the right place at the right time I’ve had the incredible opportunity to design quilts using her fabric before it goes to market. This market Moda introduced her second line called “Sultry”. www.basicgrey.com.

International Quilt Market In Houston

International Quilt Market In Houston

I just got back from Quilt Market in Houston–My first time ever!  All I can say is IT IS SO BIG! What an amazing and exciting event!  I went with my friend and partner in crime, Kim Merrill.  We hit overload in about 20 minutes! We got to attend Schoolhouse classes all day on Friday and then went to Sample Spree Friday night.  We were so tired we could barely walk to the car. A gentleman passing by said encouragingly “Come on, girls, you can make it.”

We were told by the hotel desk clerk that we would have a room overlooking the pool!

On Saturday we met up with good friend, Annie Smith.  She modeled her coat and quilt that she made for a competition. What incredible works of art! Annie, as always, was busy getting interviews for her podcast. Her web address is www.simplearts.com.

Very Chic!

I was so happy to meet Dan in person.  Now I can put a face with the voice on the phone.  Dan is every bit as nice and polite as he sounds.  www.websitesforquilters.com.
