GRANDMA ROCKS!!!!!!

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

Can I throw a party, or WHAT!  Sunday was my birthday and I threw a Harry Potter party for my kids and grandkids.  We had a rolicking bingo game with prizes worth up to dollars!!!!! The prizes were compliments of the hugh DI pile of stuff we were getting rid of. Coooooool stuff!

Brandon and Sharon built me a jewelry rack that is sooo coooool! Brandon and Sharon also laid a new floor in my entryway. I Love IT!!!!!!!! I worked Brandon pretty hard this past couple of weeks as I have been cleaning out the junk in my house.  He has been coming over everyday and hefting and toting for me. Ben, Angel and Guinness gave me the movie “Australia”. Brian, Liz and kids gave me Harry Potter “Clue”.  Can’t wait to play it.

Liz outdid herself on my cake.  She tried out a new technique and created a real work of art.  I didn’t want to cut into it, but it was worth it!  Yum!

HAPPY-MERRY BIRTHMAS TO KIM

Sunday, December 6th, 2009

Kim’s birthday was clear back in August and I finally got her birthday present done.  It is a sweater made from a sweatshirt and lined with batik fabric. Dear, sweet, wonderful Tiffany quilted it for me. I cut out some individual flowers from the lining fabric and sewed them to the front with raw edge applique. Since it is so close to Christmas I decided it had to be a Happy-Merry Birthmas present.

Race for the Cure

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

Yesterday, May 9, was the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure.  My family and I created a team called “Zella’s Bazoombas” in memory of my mother who died of breast cancer. We had t-shirts printed up by our friend and neighbor, John Calvin, that had SHOW YOUR SUPPORT on the front and ZELLA’S BAZOOMBAS on the back. But this is the really good part.  We all wore pink bras, all blinged up, on the outside of our t-shirts. We were the most photographed people there. We couldn’t walk 2 steps without someone wanting our photograph.

It was a near perfect day. Not too hot and not too cold. Over 18,000 people turned out. All th way from the Delta Center to Beck Street on 3rd W was a sea of people as far as you could see.

I just realized that my camera’s date is wrong.  It was definately the 9th of May, not the 8th.

After the race we ate lunch at the new burger place in Bountiful called Five Guys Burgers and created quite a stir even without our bras.

Then we all came back to our house for Kyler’s third birthday party.

Liz made the most incredible excavator cake.

Easter Weekend

Monday, April 13th, 2009

The last few days have just flown by!!! I spent Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at a quilting retreat with Nancy Odom.

Nancy did a retreat in October and that was the first time I met her.  In the short time I have spent with Nancy, we have become dear friends.  I love her to pieces!

We worked on a Christmas quilt at this workshop. I was having lots of fun exploring all the bijillion stitches on my Bernina and playing with fun threads.

This group that gets together is referred to as the “Rowdy Girls”.  Here are two of the rowdiest! Gina Ellis and Patsy Shelton.

Here is Gina modeling her “Denim Dare” creation.  She has everything she needs strapped to her shirt, including her SEWING MACHINE!

Easter day was bright and sunny and lovely. A perfect day for “Grandma’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt”.

We also celebrated Tater’s (Aidan) 3rd birthday.  We gave him a spiderman bike and his mom and dad gave him matching helmet, knee pads and elbow pads.

Guinness’s 2nd Birthday

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

My youngest grandson, Guinness, is turning 2 this week and we had a birthday party for him on Sunday. The theme was Spongebob and the food was unique. Liz, our family cake maker, made a very cute Spongebob cake. It was yellow cake and it really looked like a sponge. We also had Spongebob macaroni and cheese, Spongebob crackers, hot dogs for the kids, brauts and sourcraut for the big kids.

Ben, Angel and Guinness believe in family togetherness, and together they all got Spongebob tattoos for the occasion.
